So, I’ve thought for a while that the Republican party has been pimping Christians for their votes for a while now. “Vote for me, I believe like you. I believe the bible is God’s word like you…’ yadayadayada…
It always looked like I was being told whatever I wanted to hear to win my vote. Being a salesman, I know when I’m being sold something that’s not as advertised.
Well, President G. W. Bush was recently interviewed on ABC and revealed that he may not necessarily believe like you.
Here is David Brody, correspondent for Christian Broadcast Network’s take on it.
You might want to keep this kind of stuff in mind when we talk about “putting God’s man in office.” If this kind of stuff influenced your vote – unfortunately, you’ve been pimped.

Obama didn’t use his faith as his rallying point. He mentioned it if he was asked. He never said “God called him to run” and didn’t pander to the evangelical faith the way the GOP has.
He marketed in a much more broad way than the GOP has for the past 8 years. Politicians are pimps – hands down. But, the pimping of the GOP and “conservatives” was done in a very heinous way. Sex and religion will always sell. Since sex doesn’t sell well in political campaigns (unless its the opponents adulterous sex), they used religion – whether they actually believed it or not. In this case, it appears that they actually didn’t believe it and its okay to say it now because he doesn’t need your vote anymore.

McCain didn’t get my vote, but I’m still ok with saying that in all honesty Obama did the same amount of pimping- in fact, McCain sucked at courting conservatives. Obama was the one who called for a meeting with over ten of the top Christian leaders all representing a unique perspective on Christianity sothat they could address issues. Remember when the Wright thing blew up?he gave an entire speech on Faith after that. Ifeel I can say this cause I’m genuinly nuetral and I genuinly like Obama, but in my opinion both sides get pimped- just one side was sneakier smarter and the winner

Interesting comment about the Pimping of the Republican Party with Christian Conservatives. I couldn’t agree more. It seems hard to believe that a party that thinks it’s okay to deny 50 million Americans of adequate healthcare, and has promoted torture and waterboarding, and Cheney just admitted to it today. War was not a last resort; Bush and Cheney said that they would have still gone to war regardless of rumors of Weapons of Mass destruction. I am proud of myself that I new the war was a lie all along, and there is nothing Christian in my opinion of the far right wing of the GOP that blackmails many believers into voting for them to deny a woman the right to choose, yet does nothing to deal with poverty once you are born. Sort of similar to the comment that George Carlin once made. It is a sad state of affairs.

At least Bill Clinton just screwed an intern. That is a whole lot better than doing it to the entire country. Of course his nose grew pretty large like pinochio with his lies, but We are seeing that Bush and Cheney are nearly admitting to their own lies. War was not a last resort to them….war is a business to them
