What to do when you don’t feel God’s leading (part 1)

So much of today’s ministry is filled with the existential ideology of purpose and calling. WE wrap it up real nice with scripture and tell people that a life lived in our God given calling is the pennacle of all living. But what should we do if we don’t feel called? Pastors talk a lot about purpose and Holy Spirit leading , but what if we genuinely don’t feel any compulsion to do anything based on those factors?

Maybe you’re 17 and you don’t feel “called.” Maybe you’re 21 and you don’t know your “purpose.” Maybe you are 45 and you don’t feel the “Holy Spirit leading” you do anything.  Do these things mean we can’t live lives used by God and impacting the world? NO! Most people are clueless of their calling, purpose or even the Spirit’s leading until they embrace a little known act of true spirituality; it is the act of COMPASSION.

Hey Steve Patton. Happened across your blog. Nice to see one enthusiastic about leading youth. Steve…there’s a world of young people all across the world who are in desparate need of guidance of the God-kind. Love them, serve them, be an example before them….and most importantly….lift them up to God . There is a world-wide spiritual war raging and the young adults are being taken captive. They know many of the things they practice are sin….but I don’t know that the realize the eternal consequences of playing with death. IThe war is already won in the redemptive act of Jesus. But the skirmishes must play out. Christ is the way. In Him…we..too…have already overcome.

Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Eph 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Well stated my friend. I must say that challanged me to be more observant to the people around me. In the pursuit of a big dream there are those who are in pain and if I can do something about it then I will. Wonderful perspective and a little light to get folks off of their “blessed assurance”
